Tugs
A tug is a vessel used to assist in the maneuvering of other vessels. Tugs are very powerful for their size. The engines are typically between 400 and 20,000 HP.
A feature of great importance is its Bollard Pull capacity, which indicates the amount of force it is capable of doing in its towing work.
Traditionally they had a “Diesel” propulsion system, but nowadays they are beginning to incorporate technologies such as hybrid or fully electric, due to current emission regulations in port areas.
For these hybrid options, permanent magnet motors are particularly suitable, given their high performance, which increases their autonomy.
