Alconza’s Customer Service replaces the turbine-generator groups installed almost a century ago, doubling now the available power.
Alconza’s Customer Service has taken part during the last 6 months in the assembly and commissioning of two hydroelectric power plants in the Piamonte region, in the north of Italy. Both power plants, Chiomonte and Susa, originally built at the beginning of the twentieth century (1923) were the first to supply electricity to the city of Turin.
Since 2019 they have been deeply modernised, removing the original turbine-generator groups in each power plant, which basically doubles the available power. Each current group has a power of 5,000 kVA at 600 rpm (8 kV). A total of 10,000 kVA per power plant.
In order to adapt to the project, already from the generators technical proposal phase, ALCONZA completely tailor-made their design. Moreover, and given the space and load limitations of the power plant, the final assembly was done on site.
Due to Covid-19, the assembly and start-up programs were affected in time. However, our technicians managed to meet the client’s expectations by delivering the start-up of both power plants in the agreed timelines.
This way, Alconza and the client have not only cooperated in the delivery of the generators, but at the same time they have shown a perfect harmony during the coordination work at the plant, both during the assembly as well as the start-up.
