This Ro-PAx is one of the most technically advanced, modern and benchmark in the Ro-PAx ferry sector, being indeed the fastest in the world.
RO-PAX & FERRIES
This Ro-PAx represents one of the first 100% electric propulsion systems.
- 2 x Monoblock type 8 MW main propulsion engines
- 2 x LV generators of 6.608 kVA for the main diesel sets
- 2 x LV generators of 5.287 kVA for the main diesel sets
- 3 x vertical thruster motors of 1,200 kW
Alconza provides the complete electric equipment for this vessel.
The main feature of the electric propulsion motors that Alconza will install in the new ferry is its “Monoblock” design, where two entirely independent stators, as well as their corresponding squirrel cages, are incorporated in the same housing, offering a great redundancy.
The generators installed on the ferry, currently under construction, will be LV (due to Wärtsila’s Low Loss Concept (LLC) system), reaching significant electrical power and current ratings of up to 5.500 A.
These generators will be driven by the Wärtsilä 31 engine, recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s most efficient 4-stroke diesel motor and an engine that can also use artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning in a condition-based maintenance regime
